AYER KUNING: Voters in Bukit Gantang must vote for ousted Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin as he had not committed treason against the Sultan, said Pakatan Rakyat de-facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Describing Nizar as “Panglima Paduka Tun Perak”, he said voters must protect and “harbour” the PAS candidate for the Bukit Gantang by-elections.
He said Nizar was being wrongly labelled as a traitor by the Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties to cast aspersions on him.
To shouts of “reformasi”, Anwar said that the Perak state government under Nizar must be reinstated.
He was speaking at a packed community hall here today in what had been publicised as a dialogue session with the public.
However, both Anwar and Nizar left after making their brief speeches as they were said to be running late for another urgent appointment.
Earlier, Nizar said in his speech that when he uttered the words “patik mohon derhaka” (I beg to differ) he was being humble and using the proper language to address the sultan.
He said BN and Umno were twisting facts and portraying him as a traitor and that he had betrayed the Malays.
